Get Enough Sleep

Hey Everyone,

The importance of sleep is often overlooked. When it gets right down to it, sleep is just as important as breathing. It’s our body’s way of recharging, processing the day’s thoughts, and keeping our immune system strong. I definitely fall short on this one but I try to get as much sleep as I can while juggling a busy schedule.

Are you getting enough sleep?

  • I am a teen and I usually get about 7 1\2 hours of sleep, give or take 30 minutes. More is always appreciated, but I get up at 5 pretty much every morning by choice for personal Bible time and reading. :)

  • Yes I do get enough sleep. Almost a year ago I was finally diagnosed with narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that causes you to not get the right type of sleep. I was sleeping 12 hours per night, waking up tired and then taking a 4 hour nap; only to go back to bed that night and do the same thing over again. I was always tired, lack-luster and boring. Now with the medication for the narcolepsy I sleep 7.5 to 8 hours every night, wake up when the alarm goes off and get up ready for the day. My brain is beginning to work better. I am becoming the person I used to be before the narcolepsy started taking over my life.

  • Probably not, especially since I work weird hours. But I am working on getting at least 7 hours a night, and taking naps on the weekends when I need them.

  • I get enough sleep for me.  Not everyone needs 8 hours although the "experts" says that it is best.  I personally believe that sleep is overrated.  There are so many things we can do within a 24 hour period instead of sleeping all day.  I am an insomniac and it works for me.  I am refreshed after 2 hours of sleep.  I am more energetic than many who get 8.  Each person is different and if there is anyone else out there like this, don't allow anyone to tell you that you need more sleep.  I certainly do not.  I take no naps and I personally am sick and tired of people telling me that I need more sleep.  I have been this way for many years and it works great for me!  I have attempted to sleep longer and made it to 4 hours.  I woke up not knowing where I was or what was going on.  I had a serioius migraine and the day did not go smoothly.  I'm good to go with what I get.

    Respectfully,

    BK
